My Training
On this page I list my formal educational training as a clinical psychologist.
Internships:
- University of Michigan Psychological Clinic, 1978-1981
- Tri-County Community Mental Health Program, 1977-1978
(Note: The Clinical Psychology Ph.D. requirement includes internship training).
Education:
- Ph.D., Clinical Psychology, Michigan State University, 1976-1981
- M.A., Clinical Psychology, Michigan State University, 1974-1976
- PRACTICA: These are the optional courses where treatment is learned while under close supervision of senior clinicians. My training included:
- Family Therapy*
- Adult Therapy (at MSU Psychological Clinic)*
- Advanced Adult Therapy (at MSU Psych. Clinic)*
- Counseling Therapy (at MSU Counseling Center)*
- Sex Therapy
(* Three course sequence)
My original research was in two areas: measuring human temperament (Master’s thesis) and testing alternative theories of depression (Ph.D. dissertation). The dissertation formed the basis of a research paper and a theory paper I presented to the annual convention of the American Psychological Association.
