My Work Experience

I have been an independent, licensed psychologist for over twenty-five years. I spent almost twenty years as Director of Partial Hospital Programs* at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. Our Adult program, a thirty patient program and the second oldest in the State, combined psychoanalytic principles of treatment with medication prescribed as needed by our consulting psychiatrist. As Director, I provided clinical and administrative supervision to our large staff; I also provided direct clinical care, including daily group therapy. During my last five years at the Hospital, we created and I also directed a second, short-term treatment program for youths ages 10-17.

I have always had a small on-going private practice, but in 1999 I left the Hospital to create my current full-time private practice. During the initial year and a half transition, I ran the Treatment Clinic in Ann Arbor, a low-fee clinic then newly created by the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.

On occasions far too numerous to list here I have gained additional on-going training via advanced supervision, workshops and conferences. I am currently a member of the following professional associations or groups:

For a period of several years after I returned to full-time private practice I also joined the faculty of the Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology degree program offered by Madonna University. This program trains Masters level practitioners. During the years of my affiliation I taught the theory courses on the non-psychoanalytic psychotherapies, including family and marital therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapies, among others.
